I wish I read this book [Back Mechanic] when I first had back pain.
Back pain eliminated skiing, backpacking, and my passion of mountain photography for the last 2 years. Those possible memories are gone. I am a respectful fan of modern medicine and physical therapy, but it was making things worse (!) and my mind drifted to sadness. Dr. Stuart McGill has spent over 30 years listening to, observing, physically touching (like a mechanic on a car), following up with, and coaching back patients. Dr. McGill has been militantly critical of his own conclusions. Absolutely regardless of the cause of your pain, insights from Stuart will at least help you navigate to heal quicker, or at best like me, back to normal and clear on what motions can get me out of the dark trail to the hell cave of back pain. Now I am looking forward to backpacking this summer.
